How to sew a multi-tiered skirt for a girl

Thanks to a visual master class, work on this romantic multi-tiered hippie maxi skirt will not take much time. Even novice tailors such a model will be able to!

You will need:

  • cambric or veil 1.35-1.45-1.55-1.60-1.70 m wide 140 cm for sizes 110, 116, 122, 128 and 134, respectively
  • lace braid of different widths (or crocheted braid of different widths)
  • tape measure
  • elastic tape
  • safety pin
  • scissors

Step 1

From the fabric, according to size, cut out the tiers of the skirt (details b, c, d, e).

a) 2 parts of a belt 55 cm long and 9 cm wide, including allowances;

b) 2 details of the first (upper) tier of the skirt 17–18–19–20–21 cm long and 55 cm wide, including allowances;

c) 2 details of the second tier of the skirt 14.5–15.5–16.5–17.5–18.5 cm long and 80 cm wide, including allowances;

d) 2 details of the third tier of the skirt 12–13–14–15–16–16 cm long and 110 cm wide, including allowances;

f) 4 details of the fourth (lower) tier of the skirt, 15-16-16-17-18-19 cm long and 90 cm wide, including allowances.

Lay a straight line along the top cut of each tier, pick up the cut.


How to pick up fabric


Step 2

Stitch the tiers of the skirt one to the other, starting from the 4th (lowest) tier. Stitch the upper cut of the 4th tier to the lower cut of the 3rd tier, etc.

Step 3

For the waist, measure the waist circumference.Cut a strip 10 cm wide and a length equal to the waist circumference plus 2 cm. Stitch short sections of the belt. Fold the belt along in half, iron the fold. Stitch the belt to the upper cut of the skirt, while leaving a small area in the seam open.

Step 4

Cut the required length plus 2 cm from the elastic tape into allowances. Push the elastic tape into the belt with the safety pin. End the ends of the tape. Sew the open area in the seam of the belt sharpening.

Step 5

Stitch lacy braids to the skirt over embossed seams.
