Working in the fashion industry, Erica was convinced by her own example and customer examples of how rarely purchased clothes are perfect for people - and decided to sew herself.

About the page author

The current heroine of our column is Eric, she lives in Nova Scotia in Canada. Eric came to sewing, making a personal example of making sure how difficult it is to choose among the models of the mass market what really likes and goes. “The first time I worked with clothes at the age of 16 - I folded T-shirts and jeans in Gap. Then I headed a team of merchandisers there, later I started working with small designer boutiques,” says Erica. “Work in the fashion and retail clothing industry showed me a lot. "I saw how poorly clothes from the mass market sometimes suit people. How many hours I spent in fitting rooms helping women when they found that buying jeans was tantamount to hunting a magical unicorn!"

Erica decided to learn to sew herself, "collecting advice from everyone, starting from her mother-in-law and ending with video bloggers." “I was pleased to know that I can make clothes work for my miniature body with seductive shapes,” she recalls.Erica gradually mastered the implementation of new parts and models, moreover, it became easier to find and buy fabrics of interest to her online. Then our heroine decided that she would try to create her own handmade wardrobe - and now she is doing it.

What is this page about

Erica's Instagram page is an illustration of how she moves toward her goal - to dress only in the things that she will create with her own hands. It should be noted that Erica decided to do without half measures: she intends to sew on her own including things such as outerwear, jeans, underwear, swimwear and accessories. There are more photos of finished models and combinations of different items of clothing on the page than photos of the process. Among her models, there are both simple basic and not quite ordinary things. Erica emphasizes that in her own project she is also interested in understanding how difficult or easy it is to realize this or that model on her own.
