Elvira t'Hart, a designer from the Netherlands, turns her sketches into expressive outfits and amazes her with cut-out patterns, as if drawn on the body.

In his perforated works, Elvira masterfully combines two of his great passions: drawing and sewing.

For designers, a sketch often gives only an approximate idea of how the product should look in the end, the details are specified in the process. Elvira t'Hart has the opposite. Her finished models look like sketches, as if they were drawn on the body with a 3D pencil.
"I don’t want to just fill my skin with strokes, I want the material to have depth." Therefore, Elvira creates sketches of high accuracy, because they become blanks for laser perforation.
"When I draw, I precisely follow the proportions of the body. Each line should have the right direction, otherwise, when grinding parts, a single composition will not work out." When the drawings are cut, they can be stitched together as cut details. "I work with the skin because it produces very clear perforations and the slices do not crumble." The designer cuts the small patterns in size with a pair of scissors or a laser, while large ones are made at a textile factory.
It takes several weeks to make one part. The result is a "picture of strokes that arouses fantasy." The famous American singer Lady Gaga at one of her shows performed in a corsage with a slotted pattern fromElvira 't hart.
