Opening a series of super-useful tissue care tips! We start with cotton - one of the most popular materials in the world.

But for a thing sewn from cotton to be successful and last a long time, you must be able to handle it!

At first glance, cotton does not seem to be a capricious and easy-care fabric. But it is not so!

Expert Opinion
The moderator of our site, an engineer-technologist of sewing production, a teacher of sewing, Svetlana Khatskevich, gives our readers some more valuable recommendations on working with cotton fabrics and products from them:
Since cotton products are subject to frequent washing, and even in a typewriter, when decoding, you need to copy the washing mode as accurately as possible, but still it is better not to wash the fabric before sewing, but simply dunk.
Soak completely a piece of fabric, folded along the face inward, as it was sold in the store. This will help to avoid skewing the fabric.
I soak the fabric first in hot, then in cold water, squeeze it in a typewriter, slightly dry it and iron it from the inside with a double folded to dryness. First, on the one hand, then on the other, not reaching the fold. Then I lay out the piece in one layer and iron the fold.
If the fabric was on display, it is still better to wash it before cutting. I wash cotton with powder Ariel. White - at a temperature of 60 degrees, color - at a temperature of 40 degrees.
