A step-by-step workshop on sewing a universal simple heating pad for a kettle, plus ideas for decorating it.

A heating pad, or a cover on a teapot, is a thing that not only helps to make tea better and keep it hot longer. The hot-water bottle helps to create a unique charm and cosiness, giving home-made tea drinking special soulfulness. This workshop will help to sew a simple heating pad on a kettle of any shape and size. In the selection under the master class are ideas on how to decorate a heating pad.

Please note: if you want to decorate the heating pad on the kettle with embroidery, applique, or in another way, you first need to build a pattern and cut out the details, then do some decoration, and then sew the details.

How to sew an apron with your own hands

Step 1

First, we measure the kettle. Take the first measurement by wrapping the kettle with a centimeter tape in its widest part (so that both the handle and the nose enter). The second measurement is from the bottom of the kettle standing on the table along its side to the highest point of the lid. Wrap the centimeter quite freely or add a few centimeters to each measurement so that the cover is put on freely. Write down the measurements.

Step 2

Build a pattern of heating pad. Divide both measures by 2 and draw a part, the shape approaching a semicircle. The bottom of the part will be even, and the width and height will depend on the shape of your teapot.

Step 3

Using the template, cut 2 fabric parts for the front of the heating pad, 2 fabric parts of the lining, 2 fabric parts of the synthetic winterizer.

Step 4

Fold the parts in 3: lining, front part, insulation part. Sew along the bottom straight edge. Open so that on one side there is a detail of the lining, on the other - face and insulation.

Step 5

Now fold the parts, as shown in the photo, face to face, and sew along the perimeter, leaving a hole for turning out. If you want to make a handle for the cover at the top, for example, from a cord, put a loop between the front parts, as shown in the photo.

Step 6

Turn out a cover and iron.

Step 7

Sew in the hole.

Step 8

It remains to put the lining part inside the cover and iron the heating pad.

Kettle warmer: ideas for decoration

And now - a few ideas on how to decorate a heating pad. Recall that in most cases it is better to do the decor before stitching the details (although, for example, simple embroidery can be done afterwards - if you are not confused by the fact that the lining and the front part will be sewn plus there will be knots and stitches).

Different types of fabric + lace decoration

The template of the front part of the heating pad can be divided into parts and cut them out from different types of fabric, and sew strips of lace or braid on top. When the finish is ready, sew a heating pad, as described in the master class.

Knitted warmer

And if you sew a warmer from knitwear with a pattern, for example, from an old sweater, then the pattern itself will become an ornament.
